Like many other Internet users, we saw on another post vacant Sanatorium in Caramulo. We know little about this, which apparently date 1930, about a decade after the beginning of resort sanatorium Caramulo.

The current form of this Sanitarium, although it is not active, is not original; apparently, this has risen since its construction and at this point is the abandonment.
Here are the photos of this 2 Sanatorium visited this first visit… because we have to go back!
Stay well.

This is a building in front of which spent many years, at least once a year, and that has always intrigued me as it would be inside.
Particularly liked the photo No. 5 (arrastadeira non runner)
We waiting for photos of your next visit
Spent there about eight months when treating tuberculosis was 20 year old. It was around the year 1967. Is worth seeing the building so degraded. Lived up then, in Santa Maria and and Caramulo, a great vivacity environment with many people, mostly young and cheerful, since the disease did not cause suffering and also no longer represented a great danger to life. Few people there died, this time, as a consequence of tuberculosis. With all the time available the “patients” lived much with each other but not so much with residents. They raised up great friendships but usually died with the removal caused by homecoming after curing. This was already mentioned and considered strange by residents while they were there, but would happen to themselves when they left. The same usually happened with the dating that there were initiated, which generally were short-lived after the departure. These personal relationships so intense and desaparecim completely still make me think ! Unfortunately I have no contact or have any news of the people there lived some of which were great friends ! I kept contact for a few years but were up losing. I tried but could not recover
There was a great connection with two local radio stations: a “Issuer Beiras” and “Radio Ocean”. The latter was in the sanatorium Vela Vista that welcomed the sailors and these they produced and ran the radio.
I recall many stories and interesting episodes. Although the disease can say that I was happy in the time I spent there.
Finally appeal to anyone reading this review: If there was algem or know that there has been contact me. I would like to rediscover the candles friendships that there had.
Good afternoon Mr Antonio
I found out about Caramulo will 8 year old . Almada and I am several times a year for the Hotel Caramulo.
My father was in the Navy and was also undergoing treatment at the Sanatorium Beautiful view . Unfortunately he passed away will 10 years and the information you have about your stay is very little. was called Antonio Gil Castanheira , was Almada and was there around 1960.Visito much time the sanatoriums and is very sorry that I see all this degradation and lack of care for our history so recent . I'm not sure of the location of the sanatorium Bela Vista and the documented information is very scarce . In the book ” Rise and fall of a resort of tuberculosis ” I acquired this weekend I spent there , the author makes no photographic reference to this sanatorium. I wonder if you have any information that could enlighten me or where I can look for.
Thank you
Best regards
Isabel Castanheira
Good night
Just went to the Caramulo in 1967, seven years after his father there have estado.Essa date 60 is part of the resort's peak period, Many patients with, in most young and somewhat cheerful atmosphere or anything affected by the disease. No site “feceocultadeportugal / center / sanatoriums-of-caramulo” has very brief notes and fotog. all sanatoriums, including Vista Candle. I have vague recollection that was a little off center in north, but I do not remember exactly the path to get there. By that given on the site above it seems that the building still exists and belongs to private.
Knew patients who were in Bela Vista but also no longer remember the names. Playing pool with some coffee in a (café Central ??), but almost all young people of different sanatoriums if “knew of view”. There was a great connection to Santa Maria, where I've been, because it was the only one where there were women, also mostly young.

Good night Mrs. Isabel, once they get back to Caramulo is one of our objectives, will be pleased to try “find” any more information about this sanatorium.
Thank you for your participation (Anthony and Isabel) and we are available to help as we can.
Hello Peter.
From the little I read I realized that a person is understood in the affairs of Caramulo.
For the years 60 been some time in the sanatorium Mrs.. Health and would like to ask you what it is today or that there is installed in this sanatorium. Despite
reasons why I was there, I keep good memories of people who never went back to see, such as a boy (na height) named Joseph Garlic side of Setúbal and other.
A hug and congratulations on your work.
Hello Francisco, I'm no expert in the affairs of Caramulo. The most I can say is that it is a privileged place with regard to urban exploration due to his estate sanatoriums vacant.
It was coincidence and “random” on your part, have put this issue at today that the team of vacant Hunt returned to Caramulo. We have visited a sanatorium that we have not explored but we have no information about your name and / or your story.
What is certain is that we will certainly go back there a third time and try to learn anything. Today the Caramulo was extremely busy due to Motorfestival 2013 that filled the place of cars and bikes.
Thank you for your visit and comment to us.
A hug.

My uncle was there around the decade of 60, I think eu. His name was Cassiano Lopes de Sousa. By KLA had a dating, fleeting, and unfortunately died of the disease.
thank you
thanks
