Historical Notes

Considered property of public interest since 1952, Quinta da Cardiga was in 1169 donated by D. Afonso Henriques to the Templar Order, as well as being an important source of agricultural productivity, it was also an important point in the Tagus defense line since its location was strategically advantageous!

The Order of the Templars is extinct, the farm passed to the Order of Christ in the 16th century, who built the currently existing palace on the old castle buildings.

According to Take on the Net, the Vila Galé group may be close to reaching an agreement with the owners of the Quinta in order to build an important hotel unit there, which would undoubtedly be a charming way to revitalize a space, that next to its noblest part (the Palace), It has an air that is both imposing and refined for its time.!

You can find more generalized information on the website Visit Golegã and a detailed set of information, historical data and many more interesting facts here.

Finally, some photos of the space.
