Seiça Monastery

It was many years ago, at the beginning of this project, that we brought here the photos and history of the Monastery of Seiça, an imposing space that seemed destined for ruin even if cyclically there was talk of its restoration!

After so many years of rumors, retreats and advances, in december 2021 the municipality of Figueira da Foz announced an investment of 2,9 million Euros in the requalification of this magnificent space! Nearly 85% of this amount will come from the European Regional Development Fund, according to statements by the municipality.

The completion date of the work would be December 2023, however, this deadline may be threatened since in May the work contractor asked for a two-month break due to uncertainties in the project! It should be noted that the municipality will lose community support if the work is not completed on the scheduled date.

We will try to follow the evolution of these works and for now are some images captured during the summer.
