About this factory, was not easy to gather information, only the year of its foundation and the decade that ended. However Carlos Ferrao reader provided some more data that allowed the update to the post. I got an excerpt from the minutes of Coimbra House on the fence of the factory and little else.

The factory is located in Figueira da Foz Street, area called Casa do Sal, which is near the north entrance of Coimbra.

The Tannery of Coimbra was founded in 1915, were in full World War I, under the firm Raposo, Beloved & Godinho, Lda. but only in 1920 assumed the name Tannery of Coimbra, Lda. And so it remained until its encerramento.Iniciou up the tanning industry period of Coimbra characterized by mechanization. The plants were increased over time, depending on the required needs and after a devastating fire in September 1921. What else was characterized its high and circular chimney that still remains standing. With regard to process equipment, this factory was composed by the most modern equipment for this purpose. Ended in the years 90. Is this vacant time and was the target of some fires.
Is or has been , like so many other, inhabited by homeless.

Na Act No. 111 of 20-05-1996:

  2. Essa frábrica era propriedade da uma familia da alta sociedade da Coimbra.
    Era propriedade da Família França Amado.

  3. It is mentioned in a previous comment that the factory was owned by the Amado França Family. There is a lapse in this statement., since França Amado was a reputable bookseller in this city and was not involved in the Tannery.
    The company registered in 1913, Raposo, Beloved & Godinho, owner of the Coimbra Tanning Factory had as partners: António Peres Correia Amado, José António Peres Amado and José Peres Amado, who were the managing partners;
    The other partners were: Maria de Jesus Amado Figueiredo Nunes, Carlos Manuel Amado Figueiredo Nunes, Maria da Conceição Amado Figueiredo Braga, Manuela Peres Amado Figueiredo Nunes.
    after going bankrupt, in years 90, passed through several owners, being that it was initially sold at public auction.
    It later moved to two construction companies. The company Construções Correia Marques Lda in 1995 and the company Urbanizations and constructions E. C. Costa Ltd in 1997. These firms tried, in short, to urbanize the respective lot with a proposal for
    taboo taste (fortunately rejected by the Chamber), proposing the construction of new service urbanization lots, commerce and essentially housing, that is big buildings. Unfortunately, some demolitions were carried out in the factory's building complex., which are made visible by the marks left by the structure on the surviving buildings.
    In 2005 became part of Finglobo, real estate company, ignoring other developments!
